Terms and conditions
These terms apply to quotes and concrete work provided by Complete Crete ("we", "us"), a sole trader business in New Zealand, and to your use of this website. If your written quote or contract says something different, the quote or contract applies.
1. Your rights as a consumer
Nothing in these terms takes away your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, the Fair Trading Act 1986, the Building Act 2004 or the Construction Contracts Act 2002. Where the law gives you rights that can't be excluded, those rights apply.
2. Quotes and estimates
- A quote is a set price for the work described in it. An estimate is our best guess at the likely cost, and the final price may differ. We'll always tell you which one you're getting.
- Quotes are valid for 30 days unless they say otherwise.
- Quotes are based on what we can see and what you tell us. If we find conditions nobody could reasonably have known about (for example buried rock, old concrete, hidden services, poor ground or drainage problems), we'll stop, explain, and agree any extra cost with you before carrying on.
- We are not currently registered for GST, so no GST is added to our prices.
3. Deposits and payment
- We may ask for a deposit before starting, mainly to cover materials. The amount will be shown on your quote.
- For larger jobs, we may invoice in stages as the work progresses. Any payment schedule will be agreed in writing before work starts.
- Unless your quote says otherwise, invoices are due within 7 days.
- Materials we supply stay our property until they're paid for in full.
4. Changes to the work (variations)
If you want to change the work, or something comes up that needs a change, we'll agree it with you in writing (a text or email is fine) before doing it, including any change to the price or timing.
5. Timing and weather
Start and finish dates are our best estimate. Weather, ground conditions, material supply and consent processes can cause delays. We'll keep you updated if timing changes.
6. Your part
- Give us safe access to the work area, and somewhere to put materials and equipment.
- Tell us about anything you know is underground (pipes, cables, irrigation, septic tanks) and where your boundaries are. We'll also check underground service plans before digging.
- Keep children and pets clear of the work area while we're working.
7. Consents and building rules
Some concrete work, such as larger slabs, retaining or structural pours, can need building consent or engineering. We'll tell you if we think your project needs it and what's involved. For residential building work of $30,000 or more (including GST), we'll give you a written contract and the information the Building Act requires before work starts, including the prescribed disclosure statement and checklist.
8. Workmanship and plants
We'll carry out the work with reasonable care and skill, using materials fit for purpose. If something isn't right, let us know and we'll put it right as the law requires. For residential building work, the Building Act also gives you a 12-month defect repair period after completion.
Plants are living things. We'll choose and plant them carefully and give you care advice. After handover, plants need regular watering and care, especially in their first summer.
9. Cancelling
If you need to cancel, tell us as soon as possible. You'll need to pay for work already done and for any materials ordered for your job that can't be returned. If we agreed the job with you at your home without you having invited us there, you may also have the right to cancel within 5 working days under the Fair Trading Act's uninvited direct sales rules.
10. Problems and disputes
If you're unhappy with anything, please talk to us first, as most issues are easy to sort out. If we can't agree, you can take the matter to the Disputes Tribunal (for claims up to $30,000), or use the adjudication process under the Construction Contracts Act 2002.
11. This website
The photos on this site are of our own work, and the content belongs to us. Please don't copy it without asking. Information on the site is general, and your quote will set out the details for your job. We try to keep the site accurate and available, but can't promise it will always be error-free or online.
12. Privacy
How we handle your personal information is explained in our privacy policy.
